The Blue Velvet Shrimp is bred from the Red Cherry Shrimp. Shrimp tend to lose their color during the stress of shipping and because they have not been exposed to light while they are in the shipping box. The Blue Velvet Shrimp can vary in color, from a dark to light blue. Please allow 3 or more days after arrival of the shrimp to color back up to return to their normal color. They have been known to breed quickly and make a great clean-up crew for your tank. N. davidi shrimp are primarily biofilm eaters. The male is smaller and usually less colorful than the female. These shrimp are imported from Taiwan.

Shrimp can handle COLD!

When you receive the shrimp, if the water is very cold, let them sit in the open shipping box for 2 hours before you put them in the tank.

Slowly warming them up is very important!

Note:  Shrimp are very hard to count.  Please put them in a small container, then count them!

  • Male/Female: Will be picked at random (no custom orders)

If your shrimp are shipped in a breather bag, you can find the bag of shrimp wrapped inside a paper towel. See photo for example of how your order may arrive.

You're not winning any prizes with these

For the price they are good shrimp with good color. I had 2 arrive with really really poor color; one half clear with dull blue and one arrived as a chocolate almost; straight to the skittles tank for both. One DOA The other 21 seem lively and well. There will be some hard culling for good breeding colors from the 21 that are left.
